CHEMICAL 101
Our solution = the safest solution for your family.

There are several big words that our competitors like to throw around. These same words got us asking questions and made it clear that these other solutions aren’t safe for our families. And they aren’t safe for you.

Below are some words you might hear or read about, and their scary—sometimes deadly—side effects.

What is Pyrethrin?
Derived from Pyrethrum, the nonvolatile hydrocarbon is related to kerosene and comes from chrysanthemum flowers. Companies like to play up this “all-natural” ingredient that comes from a plant. But what they don’t tell you is that this plant—both in small and high doses—is toxic.

Other variations of pyrethrin:
Ambush, Anvil, Ectiban, Indothrin, Cyclopropanecarboxylic acid, 3-(2,2-dichlorethenyl)-2,2-dimethyl-, (3-phenoxyphenyl) methyl ester, Pertox, Persect, Permethrin, Resmethrin, Scourge, Sumithrin

Side effects or pyrethrin:
Lungs: Difficulty breathing--coughing, wheezing, chest pain.
Skin: Itching, rash or blisters.
Hormones: It mimicks estrogen, causing excessive levels in females. Can lower sperm count and lead to abnormal growth of breast tissue in men.
Neurological: Tremors, incoordination, elevated body temp, aggressive behavior and disruption of learning.
Kids: Lab tests show it is more harmful to children.
Animals: Chromosomal damage in hamsters and mice; deformities in amphibians; blood abnormalities in birds.

Other harmful ingredients in common products:
Xylenes found in agricultural insecticides such as Pounce, Ambush 2E and Ambush 50.
Side effects: eye and skin irritation, headaches, nausea, confusion, tremors and anxiety.

Methyl paraben found in head lice cream rinse like Nix.
Side effects: eye, skin, digestive and respiratory irritation.

Dimethyl ether found in household insecticides such as Flea-B-Gon Total Flea Killer Indoor Fogger and Ortho Total Flea Control.
Side effects: respiratory, skin and eye irritation, and it depresses the central nervous system. It is also a severe fire hazard.

Butane found in household insecticides such as Raid Yard Guard Outdoor Fogger V and Off Yard and Deck Area Repellant.
Side effects: short-term exposure causes irritation, nausea, drowsiness, convulsions and coma. It is “extremely flammable.”

Now for some good news. None of these ingredients, their variations or traces are used in our solution.
